In Loving Memory of Jane Mehaffey

We have lost a great animal advocate who dedicated her life to help homeless pets.

Our dear friend, Jane Mehaffey, passed away on July 15, 2020. She served on the board of Animal Care & Welfare Inc. as our Office Coordinator since 2014. She was an enormous asset to our organization, tirelessly working on grants and fundraising for the benefit of homeless pets. She always made herself available to transport our adoption pets for spay and neuter appointments.

Jane was our main Petoco volunteer and photographer, spending countless hours each year in the store managing events, helpping support our mission, and educatiing the public on our organization. She spent endless hours in financial meetings, managing our Facebook page and website, responding to countless emails, along with managing our newsletter mailings.

Jane's generosity was not limited to AC&W. She also spent much of her time helping Hancock County Animal Shelter. She was always available to stop in and take photos of new dogs and cats to post on Petfinder and help with their adoption efforts. So many of us counted on her willingness to help wherever and whenever she was needed. Her loving smile lit up so many lives througout her life. She will be greatly misssed and has left a huge void in all our hearts.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary this year, we know that it won't be the same without Jane by our sides. However, we know that she will be with us in spirit, shining light on our continued efforts and future.

Jane's mission and passion will live forever in our hearts.

Mission Statement

Through donations received from members and the public, Animal Care & Welfare, Inc. offers assistance for low cost spays and neuters. We also operate our pet placement program by collaborating with shelters and carefully selecting homeless pets and placing them in loving homes.

Animal Care & Welfare, Inc., founded by Ed and Kay Blotzer, incorporated since 1970, was created for the purpose of preventing cruelty to animals. AC&W is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported soley by donations. The all-volunteer Board of Directors appreciates your support.
